Bolidt is to supply 17,000-metres-squared of flooring for Dream Cruises’ new Global-class ship, which is designed specifically for the Asian cruise market.
The synthetic specialist formalised the contract with Genting Group in front of King Willem-Alexander and Queen Maxima of the Netherlands at MV Werften’s Rostock yard.
Upon delivery in 2021, the ship will feature Bolideck Future Teak and Bolideck Select Soft. Its outside areas will also all feature the firm’s flooring solutions, including the running track and all entertainment park areas.
“It was a very proud moment to sign the contract in the presence of the royal couple,” said Robert Van Aarle, manager of Sales and Business Development at Bolidt. “Our success in winning this important order was primarily the result of our experience and expertise in the cruise ship market, the durability of our decking materials and the fact that we can supply our own highly skilled application teams to the yard.”
The 342-metre, 204,000gt Global class vessel, which comprises 2,500 suites and cabins, is being built in parallel at MV Werften shipyards in Wismar and Rostock. The ship’s 220-metre midsection will be manufactured in Rostock before being moved to Wismar, where the bow and stern and superstructure will be assembled.
This is Bolidt’s second significant contract for Genting Cruise Lines. Another Genting subsidiary , Crystal Cruises, has chosen Bolidt’s flooring for its expedition yacht, Crystal Endeavour, which is currently under construction at MV Werften’s Stralsund yard and is expected for delivery in early 2020.
